Which timer should I choose?

JPam_NEO versions

If you would rather build your own timer, there are a few things you need to know first.

Most JPam_NEO versions use very similar hardware, but they do not always use the same ESP32. Each processor has different features, so a board that is suitable for one version may not be suitable for another.

Seeed Studio XIAO ESP32 boards use processors from the ESP32 family, and that family includes several different models.

The JPam_NEO version you want to build therefore determines which XIAO board you should choose.

This choice is important because it also determines whether you will be able to convert your timer to another JPam_NEO version in the future. The table below shows the hardware currently planned for each version. These choices are based on the tests carried out so far, but they may change as the project develops.

All current prototypes and tests use official Seeed Studio XIAO ESP32 boards, specifically the C3, C6 and S3 versions. Cheaper generic boards are also available with the same size and pinout, often sold as ESP32 Mini boards. They may work in exactly the same way, but they have not yet been fully tested. Compatible alternatives will be listed here once they have been verified.
